MY CHILDHOOD
Going all the way back to 2010 (yes it's been that long), Growing up as a small kid, I used to listen to EDM a lot from when I was age 3! I used to listen to a lot of vocaloid and nightcore (yes, like Hatsune Miku) on those super vintage HP PC towers that ran Windows Vista, listening to nightcore and vocaloid music became a massive part of my discovery in my current music taste.
Thinking back on it, it's so strange how at such a young age I quickly learned and managed to understand how to use a computer, my parents still didn't understand fully how to use it so I was practically the only person who would ever use it and I actually knew how to search things, open new tabs and my spelling was mainly achieved from using the PC at such a young age
Songs I grew up listening to from 2010 (Age 3)
Here are the silly little tunes I used to listen to that shaped my childhood and my music taste today
I once discovered Hatsune Miku and fell in love with vocaloid since and It was such a good era at the time, I also started listening to other vocaloid artists like Kasane Teto!
This was by far one of my favourite nightcore eurodance tracks when I discovered it! I've been listening to it a lot again recently for the nostalgia!
I remember waking up every morning and this would be the first video I was play on YouTube, it was one of my many favourite nightcore tracks!
Discovering deadmau5 in 2014
In 2014 around when I was 7, my dad introduced me to this mobile racing game called "Asphalt 8: Airbone", which was an addictive competitive racing game that came with a crazy E-Sports vibe to it, really good car models and the music was something that had me going.
Asphalt 8 had an insane tracklist that would play as you'd go on races, and you could actually change between 3 genres and choose what track you wanted to play and you'd be on your race, Bass, Electronic and Rock. On their tracklist, They had artists like Skrillex, deadmau5, Martin Garrix, NERO and Mord Fustang, I knew every song from start to finish but what track stood out to me was deadmau5's track "Professional Griefers".
Professional Griefers became my all-time favourite song, I would completely pause my game just to listen to the entire song on repeat, I kid you not, up until today, I still wonder why I never bothered looking up the rest of the artist's discography? deadmau5 stayed embedded in my head for the next 2 years since then.
Discovering NCS in 2015
In 2015 when I was 8 years old, one of my many cousins introduced me to a game that would fortunately shape my entire future thanks to it's community, "Agar.io", which was a web multiplayer competitive game for eating other players as a cell blob to reach 1st place on the leaderboard.
YouTubers like Jumbo, Wun Wun, ArcadeGo and the TYT Clan with my favourite members being Sirius and Crystal were my favourite Agar.io players to watch and each of them had something in common with all their gameplay videos - they all played a mix of NCS Releases, Trap Nation promoted songs and Goblins From Mars.
I fell in love with the majority of the songs I would hear in these videos but NCS stood out to me a lot.
I would begin to listen to a playlist of about 70 NCS songs every single day playing Agar.io, getting heavily hooked into artists like Alan Walker, Desmeon, Different Heaven, Mendum, Phantom Sage, Krys Talk, and Disfigure. This lasted up until 2016.
I've actually created a Spotify playlist of all the NCS tracks I've listened to in 2015-2016!
2016
The day that shaped my future
Aged 9, After years of growing up on Electronic Dance Music, On October of 2016 I've went ahead to create my first song on Soundation after getting an ad on YouTube about deadmau5's Masterclass
It was weird as first, because I initially never searched or done anything related to producing music but I do certainly remember thinking about wanting to try out music production, It was something I was thinking about for about a month or so. I also feel like it was the fact that I was listening to a lot of EDM at the time the Ad was being promoted was the reason why I got it in the first place.
Anywho, I recognised the massive mouse head but I couldn't really put my finger on who I recognise that mascot head from, I did a bit of research on who this "deadmau5" guy was It came to me that it was the same guy I discovered 2 years prior on Asphalt 8.
The Ad sparked my interested both ways now since I've always had thoughts onto producing music and I really loved the dude's music, I got inspired into making my own Electronic Dance Music tracks that same week and started making a few simple tracks (which obviously didn't sound too great but that's the process of starting out!)
2017
Getting inspired
In Spring of 2017, I created my first album inspired by deadmau5's album title: > album title here <, I called it "HaxCode <" since it was also a tribute to deadmau5's 2011 Live Tour "Meowingtons Hax Tour" (R.I.P Professor Meowingtons), which took place in Toronto.
Here's the earliest recording ever found of one of my oldest tracks, March 2017. I was 9 when I made this and it was inspired by deadmau5's revolutionary W:/2016ALBUM/ album, hence the cat reference in the album cover.
2018
First time on FL Studio 12
Later on in around June of 2017, I've slowly became inspired by Marshmello's upbeat sound and I started making melodic future bass and trap melodies through soundation way up until I started using FL Studio 12 in November of that same year.
Then in 2018, I started creating more sequence-based songs, which made my compositions more authentic and more personalised.
One of my tracks from 2018 "Invincible" was one of my many productions in which was inspired by Marshmello to an extent, with mesmerising melody, completely melody focused and still lacked mixing techniques. I was 11 when I made this track.
2019
Discovering Kawaii Bass
In 2019, things began to take a massive turn for me in my experience in music production, I started using Discord earlier in this year, getting to share my music with people I come across and meet on the platform, at these times, people were more supportive and were more keep to give feedback for others' works.
I got a Wacom Intuos S tablet and stylus at this period, and I'd start continuing my gameplay on the rhythm game osu! During my time playing osu! again, I've discovered an artist by the name of YUC'e who immeasurably inspired me to make J-Pop/Kawaii Future Bass and Future Core music! In response to my inspiration with this, I created a new alias called CRAZY 音楽 (Crazy-Music), since I used to have a YouTube channel called Crazy where I did gaming videos, I created a soundcloud account where I did Kawaii Bass music. Here's a track from 2019!
2020
Beginning Project 'Kanro'
Shortly after new years, I was working more on the CRAZY 音楽 project, and I noticed that I was developing a style of my own, my mixing became more defined and I was able to make remixes more confidentially with more cleaner mixdowns.
At this rate, I started getting about 50 plays on my songs on soundcloud and I made my first 10 followers, which wasn't too ideal but is definitely a good progress considering how Soundcloud isn't really being used as a top choice for music listeners nowadays.
Shortly after my works with this project in the start of the year of 2020, Covid broke out and the world went on a global lockdown, during this event I've spent more time at home - and with more time I was offered at home meant I had more free time to work on personal projects, so I used my time efficiently.
Here's a track I made earlier on in 2020 during covid, still one of my favourite productions to this day!
At this rate, I was extremely active and social on Discord, I met a producer by the name of Exyl who I became very good friends with at the time, and he teached me an essential part of mixing which is sidechaining. After he taught me this, I immediately had a burst of ideas and motivation to create new music since this technique opened up a lot of possibilities for me since it made my mixes sound 10 times as greater than it did before.
I wanted to fully start over with a plan however, I wanted to make music but not just something to throw out there but to actually release it, to get it on Spotify and actually claim royalties for my works. I spent a whole day creating a new name for myself, I thought I'd wanted to make a persona where the music is "sweet" and upbeat with a bassy, more "heavier" sound alongside it, so I created the name "Kanro", which linked to something of-similar, "Honeydew". I began making my first few songs for this new project and I've also had my first ever collab at this period.
Later on that year, In October 24th of 2020, I released my first ever album to appear on Spotify called "Dimension", which was a set of 9 tracks of me experimenting with Dubstep, Electro House and Complextro, which later would become my primary genres for project "Kanro". This was also the first time I've ever seen genuine growth and engagement in my music and it's motivated me to produce more
2021
Branding & my first hit release
I've also released my second ever album "Hibiscus" across all platforms which performed fairly well, with 8 consecutive tracks to listen to, all with an improved and more polished mixdown compared to the Dimension album.
On the 23rd of January 2021 when I was still 13, I released Save Me on YouTube, Soundcloud, and streaming services. My first Drumstep track to actually blow up - reaching 1,000 views on March 17th, then unexpectedly attracting a lot of attention later, garnering over 50,000 streams on Soundcloud and eventually 10,000 views on YouTube.
It ended up getting promoted on multiple youtube promotion channels, one of many being 親親2oMusicLîvË (2oMusic China), my first major promotion, then M1ST1K with "Colours". I then reached 1,000 subscribers on May of 2021 on YouTube.
2021 was my peakest year for Soundcloud exposure, since multiple of my songs from this year exceeded above 20,000 to over 50,000 streams on Soundcloud alone. Nowadays, a lot of these songs sit above 30,000 to 80,000 streams on Soundcloud.
Save Me later on became my top song of 2021, alongside with other tracks running-up being Sukebe reaching over 60,000 streams, Twinkle reaching over 50,000 streams, Harder reaching over 20,000 streams, Chuu reaching 30,000 streams and Lollipop reaching over 40,000 streams all collectively on Soundcloud.
At the end of 2021, I've garnered a total of about 30,000 streams on Spotify alone since 2020, which was an amazing result after starting a completely new name after 1 year.
The Birth of Shiiu
Earlier in the year of 2021, artist & illustrator "Kittimew" tagged Kanro on Instagram displaying a fanart of a custom mascot made for him and his brand called "Shiiu".
Kanro loved the character's design so much that she became the face of Kanro's brand and eventually under went numerous appearances and was featured on song covers, banners, flyers, music videos and eventually had a plushie concept of her made in 2022.
Up until today, Shiiu is still making appearances in Kanro's brand.

A Change for the better
On May of 2022, I surpassed 2,000 subscribers and my streams for Spotify went up by almost 8x it's amount from 2021. I released my third album on the very first day of 2022.
Shortly after that time, I had my first ever dream collab with a producer by the name of God's Warrior, who's known for having multiple releases supported on DubstepGutter on YouTube. Other artists I've collaborated with are Exsolit and INDX8, with both performing well on YouTube and Spotify - GHOST with INDX8 now currently over 165,000 across all platforms.
I then released my second album, Our World, which was an album that contained more genres than Hibiscus, which peformed a lot better than Hibiscus, containing multiple well-performed tracks such as "Hold Her" which now currently has over 22,000 streams (as of December 2025).
Kanro then ended up getting promoted on M1ST1K again, getting his track "Gloom" Promoted on the channel and gaining 21,000 views.
Changes
Unexpectedly, in August of 2022 my HDD (Hard Disk Drive) got corrupted during a Windows BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), resulting in my drive becoming corrupted and eventually losing all existing data within that drive.
It was a stressful encounter, trying desperately to reobtain all my files back, only making things worse by installing software and doing sector checks - eventually I've found out that the hard drive was completely dead, with all sectors being bad/faulty.
This inconvenience changed a lot of things for me moving forward, I had to start completely fresh on an empty computer drive and I had to reobtain all resource files from sources online.
Shortly after the incident, I've decided to take a week or so off to get my thoughts and next plans together.
eventually, I ended up creating something new with what I had and I learnt to deal with my inconveniences, I ended up making Fluster with Amai Momi (also known as Alieta L.), which was a more sober, laid back Electro House track.
I've also discovered a temporary cover artist named "sony" who stuck with me for the next 7 months to create song covers for my tracks from September till March.
Full Mix of the Bubblegum EP on YouTube
In October of 2022, I released my first ever EP - Bubblegum.
Bubblegum - which was a set of Five Kawaii Bass / J-Pop tracks and One Electro House track, was a small project of it's own to showcase my original sound before the Kanro project began.
This EP was inspired by Snail's House and YUC'e, in relation to my old tracks from 2019-early 2020 which explains it's similarity.
Future Apple is known currently as my oldest produced track on my Kanro catalogue.

2023
New Era of Kanro
I feel like the inconvenience of my hard drive being corrupted has shifted my future for the better because now I'm here doing more sound design than I previously used to.
I released on 9ix Music Records, which is a trendy Record Label owned by one of my friends Akucum. We released Take Me Away on January of 2023, then shortly after I released a track that would foreshadow my longlasting change in my sound.
Angel Eyes, was a appetiser for my second EP coming "Valiichuu" / this was also a temporary segment for my music called "World Of Dolls", which featured a lot of song covers with dramatic, handmade Anime Dolls, which features the overly distorted basses that my now current sound design still has. I've been having fun with Sound Designing on Xfer Serum, which opened me up to so many more opportunities and also widened my skillset in general sound design in music production.
Major events began to happen after this point, I won a remix competition with Laurie Webb's song (aka "LollieVox") song "I'll Be Your Madonna", which was held and ran by Image-Line (FL Studio), which meant I had a strong affiliation with Image-Line's producer history after being put up as one of the many remix winners.
After this point, Laurie Webb and I have been extremely close friends and have been exchanging songs with each other and have been working closely towards future releases.
The next major event that occured was that I signed with Outertone, which was one of the many big record labels that's signed artists like Tobu and Ahrix (an influencer of Alan Walker's) back in 2014.
The release is called "Eyes Closed" with Fvll Moon, it was one of my last ever made tracks back in 2022 before my Hard Drive got corrupted, and this was an unfinished track but it still ended up getting signed by the label.
My first ever track to reach 100,000 streams was Athens (ft. Veela).
It was a dramatic orchestral electro house track that I wasn't really expecting so much from but the engagement, love and support for it was overwhelmingly wholesome and I'll forever be grateful for it's first milestone.
This was the final time that Sony's art would be seen in my song covers.
Kanro - Athens (ft. Veela) is Electro House / Complextro
