Not long after her initial sketch debut, Shiiu's first colorized illustration was revealed, giving fans a complete look at her finalized character design.
She has since inspired countless official and fanmade design variations. Her 2.0 design was implemented just a few weeks later in 2021, followed by her 3.0 redesign released by rikabear on June 1, 2025.
// HOW SHIIU CAME TO LIFE
In March 2021, artist kittimew tagged Kanro on Instagram with an artwork of a character called "Shiiu" as a gift.
With characteristics such as her iconic skull hair clip, gothic choker, long hair, kitty socks, fishnet thigh highs, and leg ornaments, Shiiu had slight differences in her debut design when she made her first appearance such as having a kitty beanie, cross chain, skater knee pads, and a ripped-up heart keyhole top.
Shiiu later became an iconic mascot of the Kanro brand, making numerous appearances in songs, mixes, merchandise, services, music videos, and much more.
